I was feeling very parisian that night in my all-black outfit wearing a flare skirt and Chanel leather booties.

Wearing my Moncler ski-gear, ready for the slopes!

Simple dinner look snapped from above, wearing a Zara print blouse and my all time favorite black Zara kitten keels.

This Halloween I went as Daisy from The Great Gatsby. I looked more like a generic 20’s gal though.photo 2

Christmas Wishlist

It’s finals week for most of us, I should be focused, motivated and most importantly healthy, but this freezing new york weather has finally taken its toll on me. With a sneeze and a cold, I’ve spent the past few days winterizing my closet, snuggling up in my warmest cashmere sweaters, furry coats and slouchy beanies, daydreaming of the holidays or warmer weather. I hate myself for not catching a flight to the Miami Basel last week, because all I’ve been doing lately is writing endless christmas lists (like this one), planning my new years outfit and online shopping, when I should really be hitting the books. I’m sure I can’t be the only one though!

However, sometimes my uncontrollable shopping  proves to be even somewhat rewarding as I’ve managed to acquire the shaggiest holiday-appropriate cardigan, pajama shorts with bulldogs (!!) on them and a personalized instagram poster that I never thought could bring me so much joy.

Christmas wishlist

6. rag&bone fedora
7. Lumix Panasonic DMC GM1 Camera
8. Celine Luggage Tote Mini Tricolore
9. Classic Chanel Flats

Autumn Awakening

One of my best and coldest weeks in New York so far, when my ‘mam-chick’ came to visit. Cozying up in thick-knits and shawls, we walked around every corner of New York, taking delight in the beautiful color transformations of the trees. As one of my favorite authors Albert Camut once famously said, Autumn is the second Spring, when every leaf becomes a flower…

Busy as a Bee

imageedit_2_9040105987

Considering that mid-terms are right around the corner, I am as busy as can be. I have no doubts that my fellow college students will empathize. My life has been a plethora of to-do’s, homework cram-sessions and note-revision. Yet, I am still drawn to the blogosphere, like magnets of conflicting polarities. And before I continue, please excuse my totally unamusing reference to the physical phenomena of magnetism, but the useless information I manage to soak up in my science of technology course has to be exerted somewhere. But back to my personal blogging, which I am actually trying to expand on by blogging for the Fashion Business Association at NYU. You will find their tumblr here, and occasionally a blurb by me. So stay tuned!
On another note, rising early for my morning classes I’ve had minimal time to piece a polished outfit together. With the weight of folders and books I’m carrying on a daily basis, I’ve been running around in clothing somewhere between casual, effortless and athletic. But I haven’t stopped looking half-presentable since my high school finals, so why stop now? Unfortunately I haven’t had a moment or a lensman to capture me pictorially. Which carries me over to my next point: I am looking for a flexible New York photographer that would like to collaborate with me. Contact me here, on Facebook or comment on this post if you’re interested. My friends who read this, are even more welcome to get in touch with me! I look forward to hearing from you and I hope you’re all enjoying the last few warm Autumn days here in New York, because I sure am taking advantage of it!

New York Living 101

IMG_8128IMG_8104IMG_8110 IMG_8120

(Tee Human, Jeans H&M Trend, Pumps Nicholas Kirkwood)

Before I touched down in New York a little more than a month ago, being comfortable with the lay of the land, I expected a smooth transition. I couldn’t have been more wrong! Faced with hurdles ranging from out-of-the-suitcase living, the lack of permanent housing and more, I was in for a bizarre adventure. To all of you out there that are looking for (or plan on) a reasonably sized flat in manhattan on a budget, my only advice to you is, take time! Take. Your. Time. And be prepared. Do all your research before you move to the city and know exactly what you want. After what I’ve been through I could write a How-To on New York Apartment hunting in my sleep, but I’d rather move on and rekindle my love for blogging. So here’s me rocking my new favorite Will Ferrell SWAG tee from Human.

Short Leave of Absence

Whether you’d call (approximately) a month short or long, is a topic I’ll save for another day. But what I do want to do is extend my sincerest apologies to my readers, especially to those poor souls that eagerly wait for my next posts (I’m just kidding, I love you guys), for not taking the time out of my busy schedule to try to dazzle you with my day-to-day adventures and hopefully spark some creative thought. But I am back now, because I refuse to let this be a ‘Flog’ (A Fling Blog which kicks off out of mere boredom in the summer, only to be tossed out several months later during back-to-school season), and I will post as much as my school-work driven brain will allow me to. So bear with me! And FYI, I am an NYU gal. So for those of you living in New York City, you will notice me posting a lot more about the city, because let’s face it, thats a far more interesting subject than my life could ever be.

Mini City

What feels like the end, and what was meant to be a week of preparation for my move but has morphed in to a dazed and queasy couple last days, alas, is only the beginning. It wasn’t my mood that needed rescuing, but rather my feeble immune system.Hit with a fever and throat so sore that made even eating unbearable, I was tied to my bed almost all weekend. After several sleepless nights and a sufficient drug-intake, I recovered shortly before my flight to New York. I am both nervous and excited for what awaits me there! Route London finally goes to New York. For good.

But before being smitten by some unknown virus I was luckily able to snap a few pictures. The coral Mini City that I got a few months ago, has become my go-to summer cross-shoulder. It’s a comfortable wear, bright and seemingly small but fits all the necessaries. And my Vintage Levi’s, that I’ve pulled out of my keep-it-for-later box, have become reinstated in my closet again. Interesting – a psychological study recently claimed that if you don’t wear something you’ve bought that same season, you will never wear it again. Which would explain why women hoard their unworn clothing and why they always have ‘nothing to wear’But I disagree. Packing a few things you don’t wear away in to a ‘keep-it-for-later’ box and unpacking them in a years or even two-years time, has always worked magic for me. Having forgotten most of the things you put in there, makes timeless items like my high-waisted Levi’s exciting again. Try it!

I was really excited about my home-made blow dry, which I rarely have time for, so I had to instagram it!

My errand-run look. Always gotta be wearing compfy shoes! All stars are the perfect choice!

Taken just before dinner in Turkey, feeling lovely, refreshed and sunkissed.

Beautiful palm trees in Sardinia – in the rare occasion that I see them, I never miss a chance to snap a picture!

Basking in the scorching heat in Turkey with Cocktail in hand! Oh how much I miss that unreal place!

So obsessed with this floral chocker I got at Zara a few weeks back!

The Multicolor Picker Upper

Less than a week ago I was in such a magical place, so removed from all my worries, that distant memories of Bodrum almost feel unreal. In Vienna, running last minute errands before my move across the pond, captured grinning and surprisingly still mentally fit enough to pull together a look, but in reality drowning in an overload of wrong choices and time-pressured decisions. And on top of it all, my over-glorified MacBook decided to die on me. But thanks to my amateur hacking skills, I was able to revive it on the next day.

Channeling a childhood-like nonchalance, I decided to perk up my mood with some multicolor funk. I also made homemade Ice-Cream for the first time out of my protein shake! Healthy! And it’s not as difficult to make as you might think.
Ordinarily I wouldn’t let my state of mind conflict with my outfit, but we all make wardrobe related exceptions sometimes. Like when you’re going to a wedding and you tell yourself that your new Pavoni dress will not steal the brides spotlight. Yeah right.

Me and my camera-shy (unless we’re taking selflies) boyfriend stayed at the charming Med-Inn boutique hotel near Bodrum. Our stay was incredible to say the least. The breathtaking view we saw each morning upon waking, the tasty ‘special’ cocktails, the dream-like sunsets, the beach and crystal clear sea-water harbored in the Sunset Bay and the romantic location were perfect. I wore bikinis all day covered up in Gypsy inspired white crochet and silk blouses, roasting under the hot Turkish sun is something I didn’t have to struggle with. ‘Barely-even-there’ fabrics is all I packed and was pleasantly surprised to find my suitcase half empty. Readjusting to the breeze-less heat of the city after this week was rough!

Sardinia Bits&Bobs

IMG_7137 IMG_7139IMG_7182IMG_6906

More from Sardinia of my little sister, details from dinner and those perpetual summer vibes one can’t quite explain, but which each of us experience at beach-y getaways. What might have become one of my favorite vacationing places I’ve ever been to, Sardinia has taught me one or two things, a couple of which I will have to learn to abide by with age. Number one, your daily water intake should triple if not quadruple on your summer vacation. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Or else, be prepared to face agonizing headaches and appetite-loss. Not something I would recommend in temperatures over 30°C. Number two, the fact that you have the solution to your scorching climate problem right under your nose (taking a dip in the sea or hopping in to the excessively chlorinated pool) still does not allow you to bask in the sun for hours on end, especially sans SPF protection. Number three, don’t forget to moisturize! Believe it or not, this puny step in your daily cleansing routine will not only prolong your tan, but also make a large positive impact on your skin, even more so in the summer. For your face, always use a serum first, almost all of them are water-based and add nutrients into deeper layers of your skin, which regular moisturizers don’t do. Finally, as far as relaxing goes, always make sure to unwind during your vacation. Cherish the quality time you’ve earned yourself with your loved ones, because, almost certainly, you don’t get as much of it back home.
I hope all of you are making the best out of your summer!
